Your theme!
by: Breezy13

I love that show too! lol well im 13 and just turned it the 21 of april and would love to help you out! Ive searched the web for ideas for my party! But found NOTHING and dont know what else to turn to! But i did find a candy themed party that looked AWESOME you could do.

If your absolutely stuck to your backyard, find some cheap disco lights to rent and/or buy and put them up in trees. Have the party at night. Play loud music and have refreshments! (music on an amplifier for ipod, CD player, anything will work! The thing that should cost the most is the lighting!! (this might not work, never tried, im only 13 im spit balling ideas!)If your willing to get away from the backyard:

Get creative make designs with the candy (take gumballs put them in cups stick lollipops out the top of them). I love the idea and want to do it.... but im childish... lol if your daughter isnt then here are some other ideas.

Try a beach party (i live in a small town NO WHERE close to beaches so i cant!) So if you cant do that then:

Try a hotel party... rent 2 rooms one for the parents and one for the kids.... Get one with an indoor pool. Try a big city near your location and get one with a ball room or something like it and invite people there (as many as she pleases) and have a big party! Then have people of her choice, or her closest friends come and stay the night. While the others leave. It should be under 500$ if thats over your price range go for something a little cheaper.

Rent a local skating rink and/or something with a big open space, allow her to invite as many people as she wants and do that for about 2-3 hours. Have music, refreshments, and disco lights of course!

I hope that helped, if not im sooo sorry! If it was out of your price range i am soooo sorry again! And if this didnt help keep looking, im sure you'll find something! I hope your daughter has an amazing birthday party!

How To Do A Candy Themed Party
by: Anonymous

We are planning my daughters 13th birthday party as well and it is candy themed. We are doing a candy buffet.

I bought most of the candy at Dollar Tree: Twizzlers, Lemon-heads, Tootsie Rolls, Skittles, Pixie Sticks, Candy Necklaces, Gummi Bears, Candy corn, etc. I also purchased personalized M&M's. Sort of expensive but I thought it was a special time for her and worth it.

I am using different sizes and shapes of glass containers, some were actually from flower arrangements that I had kept over the years. Just be sure to wash them in the dishwasher to get all the stuff out of them.

I am borrowing a chocolate fountain up from a friend. We are going to call that the Chocolate Swamp. I printed up full color 8 1/2 by 11 sheets with the words Chocolate Swamp that will be on photo holders. We are going to dip marshmallows, pretzel sticks, strawberries and pound cake.

Another section will be the Lollipop Grove. I used inexpensive floral Styrofoam rings ( $1 each) and pushed the suckers down into them mixing and matching the colors until we filled it up. I did a couple of rings, and also did some rectangular ones. I wrapped ribbon around the Styrofoam and used straight pins to secure. That way my daughter could use the ribbons again.

We are also making a photo booth. I saw the idea online to call it the Sweet Shots Photo Booth. I went to Lowes Home Improvement store and they gave me a refrigerator box that I decorated with rolls of hot pink and lime green wrapping paper. I had some pink and purple Christmas lights that we will also use to decorate the photo booth. I am going to set up my digital camera on a tripod and take pictures of my daughter and all of her guests. I've only spent about $5 on the photo booth for paper and tape.

For centerpieces I bought more of those Styrofoam pieces and wrapped in hot pink cellophane, twisted the ends and secured with tiny black rubber bands. They look just like big pieces of wrapped candy and are adorable! You could even recycle pieces of Styrofoam from packages. Just cut to the shape you want and it will be free! Just the cost of the cellophane.

I've spent about $100 including invitations. I will buy balloons the day of the party. I am also going to have chips and dip, and drinks. I hope it turns out alright. 13 is such a hard age to plan a party for. Instead of hiring a DJ, we put together a play-list on her IPOD and will plug it into a borrowed sound system.

Wish us luck.

Nicole says: Wow what a fantastic party. You have put so much effort and thought into it.I love the idea of the photo boothe and the giant Styrofoam candy. Well done and I am sure the party will be a real success. Thanks for sharing!
