Chocolate Crispy Cakes

This chocolate crispy cakes recipe is so easy and is a great recipe for the kids to help you with. Just take care when melting the chocolate as it can be quite hot.

These Chocolate Cakes remind me of school. On special days some of the teachers would make them for us kids and it was a real treat. We would all rush to get in the head of the queue to see who could get the largest cake.

Make this a special treat at the party so the kids can make memories too.

Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Makes about 12

Equipment: Large glass bowl, large saucepan, Wooden spoon, Teaspoon, 12 paper muffin papers, Baking sheet

  • 8oz Milk or Plain Chocolate (You could try using white chocolate as well although some kids are not so keen on this).
  • 3oz Cornflakes or Rice Krispies
  • Smarties, Cadbury mini eggs, or other small chocolates

If desired you can add a few pretzel sticks or coconut but not all kids like these ingredients. Or let the kids add their favorite ingredients. You never know, they might come up with something really good.

How to Make Chocolate Crispy Cakes

  1. Break the chocolate into pieces and place in the glass bowl. Put the bowl over a pan of simmering water and let the chocolate gradually melt. Note: Don't let the bowl touch the base of the pan or the chocolate will burn.
  2. Remove the bowl from the heat and then carefully stir in the cornflakes or rice krispies.
  3. Spoon the mixture into the paper cake cases and place them on the baking sheet.
  4. Leave the cakes to cool for about 5 minutes and then place some smarties or other decorations on top of each cake.
  5. Leave in a cool place until the chocolate sets.

You might have to limit the kids on how many they eat or they could be on a sugar high for the rest of the night!

Just a thought that maybe non-sugar drinks should be served if they are going to have a lot of sweet treats.
