Chocolate Crispy Cakes

Chocolate Crispy Cakes reminds me of school. On special days some of the teachers would make them for us kids and it was a real treat. We would all rush to get in the head of the queue to see who could get the largest cake.

This chocolate crispy cakes recipe is so easy and is a great recipe for the kids to help you with. Just take care when melting the chocolate as it can be quite hot.

Preparation Time : 20 minutes

Makes : 12 Crispy Cakes

Utensils : Large glass bowl, Large saucepan, Wooden spoon, Teaspoon, 12 paper cake cases, Baking sheet.

Ingredients

You will need:

225gm (8oz) Milk or Plain Chocolate
85gm (3oz) Cornflakes of Rice Krispies
Smarties or other small chocolates

Method:

Break the chocolate into pieces and place in the glass bowl. Put the bowl over a pan of simmering water and let the chocolate gradually melt. Note: Don't let the bowl touch the base of the pan or the chocolate will burn.
Remove the bowl from the heat and then carefully stir in the cornflakes or rice krispies.
Spoon the mixture into the paper cake cases and place them on the baking sheet.
Leave the cakes to cool for about 5 minutes and then place some smarties on top of each cake.
Leave in a cool place until the chocolate sets.

You could try using white chocolate as well although some kids are not so keen on this.
