Dad Survival Kit

Dad Survival Kit with pens and pencils

Does your dad lose things? Well then he needs his very own Dad Survival Kit to help him find things easier. It will also make a great Father's Day gift that dad can keep on his desk.

If your dad forgets where he has put things or can't find his comb or a pen when he needs one then this Father's day gift is perfect for him.

You can either fill it with his favorite things or let him stash his bits and bobs in it himself.

You can also write him a message on the inside of the lid that he can keep forever.

If you want to, you can make him a couple of these boxes so he can keep one on his desk and one on his dresser for other things he doesn't want to lose.

Skill: Easy

What You Need

  • Empty shoe box
  • Acrylic paints, indelible marker pens, newspaper
  • Ribbon, stickers, glitter
  • Glue
  • Items to put in the box (things that dad often loses or needs)

How to Make Your Dad Survival Kit

  1. An empty shoe box is perfect for this craft. If you don't have one, ask in your local shoe shop as they often have spare ones.
  2. Protect your table with lots of newspaper and then paint your box all over. You could use one color for the bottom and another color for the lid.
  3. When it is full dry, use the marker pen (or paint) to write something like "Dad's Survival Kit" on the lid.
  4. Decorate the rest of the box with your stickers, glitter or whatever else you like.
  5. Now think of all the things that you dad loses, needs or likes and which you could place in the box. How about a pen and notebook, comb, packet of his favorite sweets, baseball cap, pair of socks, key chain, torch, coins and so on. Place all the goodies in the box and tie it up with a big ribbon.

Your dad won't be losing all these things now!

You could also make one for Mother's Day. She will love to put all her bits and bobs in it.
