English Muffin Pizza

These muffin pizza recipe treats are a great alternative to the real thing.

What kid doesn't like pizza? And these English muffin pizza treats are a great alternative to the real thing.

They are quick and easy and perfect for a kid's party.

If you haven't got the time or know-how on how to make pizza dough, then this is the perfect recipe for you. It's quick, it's easy and you can add whatever toppings you like.

Ingredients for English Muffin Pizza

Preparation Time: 5 minutes

  • 1 English muffin per person
  • Jar of tomato sauce of your choice
  • Grated/sliced cheese - mozzarella, cheddar or Parmesan
  • Suggested toppings: strips of ham, drained tin tuna, sliced mushrooms, sliced pepperoni, sliced pitted olives, sliced tomato.

How to Make Your Mini Pizza

  1. Heat the grill and toast the muffins for 1-2 minutes on each side
  2. Slice the muffins in half horizontally. Put a spoonful of tomato sauce on each muffin half and spread evenly.
  3. Layer on the toppings of your choice placing the cheese on last.
  4. Place them on a grill pan and pop them under the grill for a few more minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbling.

Alternately, you could let the kids make them by using the toaster to toast the muffins. They can add whatever toppings they want and then microwave them to melt the cheese.

And you don't necessarily need to use English muffins. Try using different types of dough for the base, like bagels, tortilla, pitas, whatever you think the kids will like or whatever you have around the house.

For an extra treat at the party, put them on skewers or if you don't want the kids having the point on the end, you could use popsicle sticks.  That way the kids can grab them and go back to having fun while they are eating.

The kids will love making these mini pizzas. It's the perfect size for them to eat.

Kids Party Food Cook Books

I have found it so hard to find just one cook book dedicated to kid's party food. Most have lots of extra bits about planning and decorating that I don't necessarily want.

So I have done a bit of searching and come up with the 3 that I consider the best in terms of kid's party food ideas.
