Octo-Cake!
The cake was for my son's 4th birthday party.
I made two chocolate marble sandwich cakes, filled with butter cream, one larger than the other. They were stacked then covered in slightly marbled blue icing.
The top was covered in blue frosting, formed into slight waves, into which I placed dolphins which I had made from icing. I made all of the octonauts, the fishes and the coral reef from icing (although the starfish were just sugar stars, and the balls on the white and pink coral are pink sugar balls!). Everything was assembled, with some use of edible glue.
I used golden caster sugar with just a little yellow food colouring to make the sand which I sprinkled around the coral at the base.
Nicole's comment: What a fabulous cake Jodi. I love all the little characters and your attention to detail. It looks too good to eat!
