Paper Mache Recipe

Paper Mache Recipe - There are lots of papier mache recipes around but I have found these ones to be the best.

Flour Papier Mache Recipe - no cook recipe

One part plain white flour to two parts cold tap water
2 tablespoons salt (helps to prevent mould)

Place the flour and salt in a large mixing bowl and gradually mix in the water. Keep stirring with a large spoon until the paper mache is the required consistency.

Flour Papier Mache Recipe - cooked recipe

6 cups water
1/4 cup plain white flour

In a saucepan boil 5 cups of the water. Gradually mix the remaining cup of water with the flour, stirring well to remove any lumps. Then add the flour mix to the boiling water and stir. Let it simmer for a couple of minutes or until the mixutre thickens. Allow to completely cool before using.

Wallpaper glue

Follow the manufacturers instructions for making up the glue. Vary the amount of water if you want a slighlty thicker or thinner consistency.

I like this recipe best as it keeps well in an air tight jar for 3-4 days or up to a week in the fridge. Plus it contains a fungicide to stop the glue going mouldy.

Note: Don't let children lick their fingers becuase of the fungicide
